Osmose Utilities Services Payroll Accounting and Tax Specialist in Peachtree City, Georgia

Summary of position:

Someone who loves to dig in and research to find solutions. This person works independently while also maintaining the highest degree of accuracy. Mindreading would certainly help, but the incumbent would have the ability to understand our employees’ or other departments’ requests or be able to converse to find out how we can assist. One who sees an issue or problem, grabs it, and runs with it! We are looking for a partner to help us take our department and organization to the next level!

The ideal candidate will be located in Georgia, with the potential of working a hybrid schedule

Responsibilities:

Payroll Accounting

  • Support Finance & Accounting team with payroll related requests; helping to resolve any outstanding reconciliation items or variances.

  • Conduct general ledger processing for all Pay Groups, including creating or correcting mapping configuration in UKG as advised by Accounting.

  • Produce and maintain strong UKG Standard and Business Intelligence reports to facilitate the needs of Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Operations; including but not limited to audits, company tax returns, general inquiries, annual reporting, due diligence, and acquisitions, etc.

  • Run periodic reports and submit check requests for various situations, including Union, Workers Comp, Rapid Paycard, etc.

Employment Tax

  • Maintain all US, state, and local registrations and UKG third party authorizations for each entity.

  • Monitor quarterly tax reconciliations with UKG Payment Services.

  • Complete year end reconciliation of W2’s, produce file for distribution with UKG Payment Services.

  • Ensure tax agency notices are resolved by working with UKG, F&A, and/or directly with the agency

  • Monitor updates to employee work locations/tax setup in UKG and conduct periodic audits to ensure proper withholding and compliance.

  • Facilitate all tax amendments and adjustment processing.

Periodic and Year End Reporting

  • Complete monthly and quarterly BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) reporting as required.

  • Generate Certified Payrolls as required by customer.

Domestic and International Payroll

  • Partner with Osmose international (particularly Canada) HR and Payroll professionals to gain knowledge of international tax practices and payroll processes.

  • Backup or assist processing for international payroll specialists if necessary.

  • Monitor international tax payments to ensure timeliness and accuracy.

  • Provide back-up assistance to US and Canadian payroll processing when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Must have 2-3 years in a Payroll Accounting position, Payroll position with emphasis on Accounting (or vice versa)

  • Must have 1-2 year’ experience with payroll and employment related tax

  • Must have multi-state employer experience, preferably with employees who work in multiple states

  • Must have strong computer aptitude - from creating Excel spreadsheets, to easily learning new software and ability to troubleshoot basic configuration issues under the guidance of Payroll Analyst and HR-dedicated IT team.

  • Must have UKG Pro (formerly UltiPro, or Ultimate Software), UKG Dimensions (formerly Kronos) experience

  • Must have excellent report writing skills in payroll software system, from utilizing standard reports, to creating new reports

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
